Since we travel to Utah or Arizona every year for Christmas we usually open the gifts to/from each other early so we don't have to haul them back and forth. This year we decided to make it a little more like Christmas instead of just opening the gifts. We treated the night before like Christmas Eve (although we didn't call it that, just to spare confusing the kids). We had a special dinner, acted out and read the nativity story, and watched a Christmas movie with Christmasy popcorn. The next morning we had a special breakfast and then opened presents. It made it feel a lot more like Christmas! I think we'll do it this way again!
