JULY - Part I

Well I have a lot of catching up to do. Here's what we did with our July! We had a great 4th of July weekend. Brooks spent some time up at scout camp. A couple friends and Spencer and I went to Ralston City parade. It was so fun. Spencer was very entertained. He sat on my lap the entire time and just watched everything go by, and that's something for Spencer to sit that long! That evening we had a barbecue with some other families in the ward. The Lau's were kind enough to let us join their party! They had their own firework show put on by there neighbor. Spencer didn't like sitting right under the blast, so we sat on their back porch watching all of the other firework shows going on through out the valley. It really was incredible. Anywhere you looked there were fireworks going off constantly. It really was something else, and pretty amazing to watch. Here are some pictures of the parade. The weekend after the 4th we spent a couple days in California with the Tingeys. We had a super fun weekend at Disneyland. It was so much fun just to be with everyone. Spencer didn't love taking pictures, and he didn't love the marry-go-rounds as much as I thought he would, and he was a little skeptical every time we got close to a character, but I think he enjoyed himself. He loved the Bugs Life water park, and Toon Town. I think his favorite place in the whole park was Goofy's House, it was so fun to watch him! Spencer loved having so much attention all the time. Everywhere he turned someone was ready to share their treats, take him for a walk or play. Thanks to them we were able to enjoy the rides while they watched Spencer! The happiest place on earth! Doesn't his face just say it all?Having so much fun is tiring. And when all is said and done . . . a good nap is all they need - big or small!! The weekend after we got back from Disneyland we went camping with a bunch of friends. Everyone told us that July was the worst time to go camping in Omaha because of the heat, but the weather was actually beautiful. It was the perfect weekend to go. Spencer loved being outside all day. Cameron and Hailey played ball with him all afternoon! We are all a little out of practice with the whole camping thing so there were a few things we forgot. It was quite entertaining to watch Chris chop the wood with a hammer! Yep, a hammer, but he did a fine job with it.This is Spencer saying, "Get up Mom! Get up!" This was the first time using our new tent. Brooks stepped inside it and said "Wow! This is like the Marriott compared to our other one!" He can stand up in this tent, and with the other one Spencer can barely stand up straight. There was a lake right by out campsite and on Saturday we played in the water. It was a bit chilly, but Spencer loved playing in the mud and the guys had fun playing football.

And I thought we have been busy this summer! Luckily the busy schedule hasn't ended and I get to see you in almost a month! Maybe Amy and Spencer can play in the dirt together. It is seriously her new favorite thing.
