Railroad Days

A few weeks ago several venues in Omaha put on Railroad Days. It was a great chance to go to several things we've been wanting to visit. First we went to Lauritzen Gardens. They had some very beautiful gardens, but we both agreed that the best part of the whole thing was the train village they have. It was pretty amazing! After we saw the gardens we went to the Durham Museum. I didn't realize this before we went, but the Durham Museum used to be the old Union Pacific train station for passenger trains back in the day. So the first floor looks very similar to Union Pacific station at Gateway in Salt Lake. We got to walk through some old passenger trains. I think it would be more fun to travel in one of those than in a plane, but it wouldn't be much fun to travel several days to get somewhere. These trains are huge! If you can see the picture of Brooks and Spencer standing in front of one, the wheels are taller than Brooks. They also had some fun and games that Brooks and Spencer had a ton of fun with. After the museum we went to General Dodges house. He was a general in the Civil War and they've restored his house to close the original. Over all it was a very fun and educating day!
