We went up to French Creek State Park to go camping last weekend. We got there and set up camp and had dinner and set out to explore. Every 15 minutes or so Spencer needed to use the restroom, but would never do anything once we got there. As we were heading back to our campsite he threw up all over the car. We got back to camp and got him and everything cleaned up, but decided to stick it out in hopes that maybe he got it all out of his system. It was his birthday the next day and I had brought a gift to open at breakfast, but we decided to open it that night. It was perfect - books from grandma. We sat down for a few minutes and read until another round came and we rushed him to the bushes. We kept this up for a while until he seemed to be done and fell asleep. Once both boys were asleep in bed Brooks and I had a great time around the campfire cooking smores and exchanging camping stories! When Spencer started throwing up in the tent we decided it was time to go to bed or at least be in the tent with them. After cleaning up mess after mess in the tent and Benson waking up and crying non stop we decided it was time to go. The rest of the night was a typical night with a sick kid, but once 5 am rolled around, Spencer was finally sleeping and I heard the rain on my window. I was so glad to be in my own bed to enjoy a few minutes of peaceful sleep and not in a tent worrying about the rain!
Here's Benson doing what boys do best: playing in the dirt!
Saturday was Spencer's birthday and he felt a lot better that day - thank goodness! He had lots of fun opening presents throughout the day, and was so excited about his 'Nemo' cake! We won a birthday cake decorated by a young woman in our ward at the youth auction the week before! Elle did an awesome job with the cake. Spencer loved it! We had fun with the O'Farrells who came over to celebrate with us!
